About Souly Stones
I am Angela, married to my wonderful husband Jeff and mom to our 5 year old son. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I'm of Filipino, Italian and French descent. I have a degree in mental health and spend my free time pursuing my other passions - astronomy, archeology, geology, baking, reading and antiquing. I've always been creative. I've made cards, ceramics, candles, ornaments, etched glass and had many other artsy hobbies. My entire family is creative. My grandma is the one who got me into making jewelry. It was her new hobby and my eyes lit up when I saw all the jewelry she created. She kindly let me use her beads and the rest is history. It is because of her that I found my bliss. I started creating jewelry in 2000; I am self taught and frequently try new techniques to improve my pieces. The first necklace I sold was when I was trying on wedding dresses; the salesperson bought it right off my neck. I was shocked she wanted to buy it, so I kept creating as more people came to me for pieces. For me, it is all about the stones. I’ve been collecting crystals and minerals for the past 25 years. The first time I went into a bead store, I was fascinated to see all my favorite stones in bead form. Since that day, there hasn’t been a day I haven’t thought, more like obsessed about creating jewelry. I love the thrill of finding rare stones and discovering new ones. Stones and colors speak to me in way that I can’t explain. It’s the stones that inspire me; they guide my eyes as I create. Creating jewelry is my passion; I can't imagine doing anything else. I love what I do and hope that comes across in my pieces.
