About ValKinman

Hi! I'm Val Kinman, and Kinman Studios is my crafty inspirational outlet. I have many different artistic and crafty interests and pursuits, though currently my biggest love is glass, both fused and worked in a torch. Currently I'm only working with soft glass (manufactured by Bullseye Glass, also a Portland Oregon company - yay for supporting other local businesses!), though I plan on branching out into boro (one brand name being Pyrex) in the near future.

You may see other crafty things as well in my Etsy store from time to time, depending on what I'm currently working on. My other interests range from knitting, felting (both wet and dry-needle), polymer clay (all time favorite clay to work with is Kato, a wonderful medium), quilting and other sewing. Any of these interests may show up - also I tend to pull inspiration from my other hobbies (most often quilting) into my glass designs. My blue & white pinwheel pattern server is a good example.

Overall my designs tend to be geometric, at least for my fused work, but, especially with help from the torch, I'll break away from that every so often.
